Not far from home is a great little garden centre called Prickly Pear. It’s not too big, but there’s an inside retail shop, and a small fenced outoor area, some of which is covered. It’s a great location in the heart of Steveston Village.  Steveston is an original fishing village full of interesting shops, restaurants, and more than one great coffee place. I meet with many of my pals here, and it’s funny, because with each friend I have a different place to go for coffee.  But I always make time to wander through Prickly Pear. It’s pretty hard to get out of there without purchasing a little something to add to my garden or my home, or to tuck away for a gift.

On a recent fall day while strolling though, I realized I had my camera in the car, so I asked if I could take some pictures.  There were so many lovely vignettes, and everywhere I turned there was a photo op, so I just snapped away and had a great time.

For someone with a pumpkin addiction, this is very tempting.

These giant kale plants look like roses on steroids to me.

Bright, happy gerbera plants, with more kale in the background.

Bunny standing guard over some ghostly gourds.

Throw some giant garden mums into planters and they’ll see you through until Christmas.

Mushrooms, anyone?

Who knows when I’ll be back again?  I do.  Soon!  Maybe one of these visits I’ll take you inside.  It’s especially magical at Christmas time!
